Canada’s Emerging Populist (People’s) Party

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

Kevin Sinclair, Candidate of Record for Abbotsford

Abbotsford BC - Oct 10, 2022

If ever Canada needed a populist party that time is now.

According to Google, “populism is a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups.

The People's Party of Canada (PPC) has been described as populist. Its leader, Maxime Bernier, refers to it as "smart populism", which is based on principles of freedom, responsibility, fairness, and respect, that speak for "all Canadians" and which do not appease special interest groups”.

A true populist party puts the interests of the general public first and foremost.

When PPC members state that we are doing politics differently, we are not employing a fancy catch phrase that some marketing company cooked up for us, we are saying straight up that we do politics based on what we believe, and we won’t change our convictions to cater to special interest groups.

We promote and defend common sense policies that put Canadians first and offer them “a real principled alternative to the corrupt establishment parties, which rely on pandering and vote-buying schemes to further their interests and those of lobbyists, rather than those of the people”.

  • We also put forward the best policies, by far, to regain and preserve Canada’s sovereignty, prosperity and freedom. Here are a few examples of how we absolutely differ from the establishment parties on policy:

  • We will decentralize our governmental system by shrinking the size and scope of the federal government and restore constitutionally derived autonomy to the provinces and territories.

  • We will balance the budget over one term by cutting unnecessary foreign aid programs, getting rid of corporate welfare, the CBC and by initiating other bold fiscal reforms.

  • We will withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord and assert federal jurisdiction over pipelines construction by invoking section 92(10) of our Constitution, whereby Parliament can declare any project to be for the general advantage of Canada.

  • We will end mass immigration and withdraw from the United Nations Compact on Migration.

  • We will change the equalization formula to make it less generous and fairer to all provinces.

Now, if that isn’t enough to get you to read our platform, then consider that right now in Canada there are only two major parties dominating political discourse at the federal level; the Liberals, who incarcerate their political opponents and freeze the bank accounts of anyone supporting them, and the Conservatives, Canada’s Official Participation Party, or, as I call them, the Chameleon Party.

For clarification, let’s add one more definition.

According to Merriam Webster a chameleon is:

  1. a lizard

  2. a person who often changes his or her beliefs or behavior in order to please others or to succeed

  3. one that is subject to quick or frequent change especially in appearance.

Examples of chameleon Conservative Party behavior include, among others:

  • remaining silent and complicit when a political opponent is arrested and jailed for appearing at a rally protesting unconstitutional Covid-19 restrictions and then,

  • less than one year, later announcing “I’m running for Prime Minister – to put you back in control of your life, and make Canada the freest country on earth,

  • presenting a vote buying election platform (2021) entailing five consecutive years of deficits as “Canada’s Recovery Plan” and then

  • criticizing and mocking the Liberals for creating the exact same crippling inflation we would be experiencing today had the Conservatives won the last election,

  • and, who could forget claiming to be the Party of principles, then voting unanimously to pass a law criminalizing (up to 5 years in jail) anyone attempting to counsel gender confused CHILDREN to be comfortable with their birth sex (Bill C-4).

To this day, there exists only one Member of Parliament in the entire party (and country) who exhibited the courage to look his constituents in the eyes and apologize for his role in fast tracking into law this heinous new binding legislation.

In Ted Faulk’s own words, “I am sorry that I did not act quicker and voice my opposition to stop this from happening without debate or study” or “to be a voice for the voiceless and vulnerable, to defend the religious freedom of Canadians, and protect the autonomy of the family”, or to “ensure that the bill would at least have had clear definitions that would have protected vulnerable people to have safe conversations with a pastor, councillor or parent”.

There’s a famous saying attributed to Maya Angelou – “when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. People know themselves much better than you do. That’s why it’s important to stop expecting them to be something other than who they are.”

We cannot afford to be continually conned by these corrupt establishment parties any longer. There is too much at stake. We need accountability and we need it now. Thankfully, more and more Canadians have had their eyes opened to this fact and are adhering to the fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice, shame on me motto. They are putting their trust in something altogether different, a party that “RE”presents them! They have concluded that the People’s Party is the only party that will bring the strength and accountability our democracy so desperately needs, and they are growing in number. The more this happens the more we will keep growing until THE PEOPLE truly have a say in molding the future direction of our great country.
