Jeff Galbraith, PPC Candidate of Record for Chilliwack-Hope
August 19, 2024 | Chilliwack BC
Howdy Neighbour,
So the People’s Party of Canada ReVision Convention has come and gone and after some time to recover, ponder valid points of interest, and return to work, it was agreed that I make a two-part series of my adventure.
This post will focus on my journey to the convention in Gatineau, QC as I chose to drive the approximate 4,400 km. Yes, that’s right, I chose to drive. Just like what I am doing now as a candidate for a federal party, it is something I have never done before. I have been across Canada by car when I was a lad, yet I have never driven that far previously.
So let’s begin shall we…
Leaving Chilliwack, on a Monday afternoon and arriving in Alberta after the sun had retired for the night. I took this picture on my return trip. Alberta, a mix of mountains, hills and rolling flat lands.
Medicine Hat Tepee- probably not very comfortable come winter.
Saskatchewan continued with the rolling flatlands into the prairies we’ve come to know. In some parts of this province, as I was driving, there were points where I could not see my dog running away for days. Saskatchewan, the largest farming community in Canada that does not do the biannual time change. I also noticed from the trek of my youth, that just as the “beehive burners” have disappeared in BC, the grain pool elevators at every town have been replaced by large corporate concrete structures strategically placed in a few locations throughout.
As I was passing through Montlach, I found this version of the man, the myth, and the legend, Don Cherry. I had to make a U-Turn and take advantage of an opportunity.
The landowner shared the story with me that Don Cherry called him that he and Ron MacLean are just fine when it comes to their friendship. The real story is that Don was up for a contract renewal for $1M and SportsNet did not want to renew. So, they used that story of Don’s “You people” episode to cancel him. Then made up a narrative about Ron MacLean and he were on the outs.
Here’s Don’s reason for being dismissed…
Found this blast from the past in Swift Current, SK.
My only memory of Manitoba was a concrete overpass that had been damaged by a too-high load, a big chunk of concrete was missing, support pillars in place, two lanes only for traffic, and skid marks from the tractor tires reeling off into the median.
Blind River, Ont.
Made it to Ottawa. It’s all a facade at People's House. Nothing to get up close and personal with. It’s still under construction/renovations. How many years now? How many years until completion? Sheesh.
End of the beginning of my roadtrip, I finally parked my blue goose at the reserved hotel in Gatineau, QC. Seems I picked up a few hitchhikers along the way that did not survive the sudden impact.
The view from my hotel room. Pretty cool if I do say so myself. A 15-minute walk across the…
Well, my friends that concludes part 1 of my trek to the Nation’s capital and to our People’s Party of Canada ReVision conference.
Stay tuned for Part 2, which will involve more of the event itself, coming soon…
